Global goals, local proof

Measured against the goals that matter.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

The World Economic Forum expects 39% of core job skills to change by 2030. UNESCO makes the case for lifelong learning as the response. The UN Sustainable Development Goals set the targets we measure ourselves against; ours are 4.4, 8.5, 8.6, 10.2 and 17.17. We build to these frameworks and report against them.

SDG 4: Quality education

Quality education

Accredited programmes, apprenticeships and AI and digital skills across schools. Target 4.4, more people with relevant skills for employment, reads like our mission statement.

SDG 8: Decent work and economic growth

Decent work

Target 8.6 set the world a 2020 deadline to cut youth unemployment; it was missed. Our work with young people outside education and employment serves it directly.

SDG 10: Reduced inequalities

Reduced inequalities

Inclusion irrespective of background: our programmes are weighted deliberately towards those furthest from work.

SDG 11: Sustainable cities and communities

Sustainable communities

Place-based programmes built with local authorities, schools and community organisations, strengthening the places people live and work.

SDG 17: Partnerships for the goals

Partnerships for the goals

The Maikai model itself: employers, providers, funders and government convened around one table.

This alignment is practical. For public bodies and for contractors carrying social value commitments, we help deliver them: apprenticeships, skills programmes and schools engagement, measured and reported. The young people these targets measure are who First Rung exists for.
