Public Sector
A pound spent on skills goes further in the public sector than anywhere else: it reaches more people and prevents more cost. That's why we're here.
What we do
We help NHS trusts, councils and combined authorities turn expiring levy into workforce capability. With the NHS, we create accredited training routes for existing staff and entry programmes that bring residents from local communities into careers in health. For combined authorities, our programmes help deliver capacity for skills priorities. We map every initiative to social value outcomes with measurable and reportable impact. Every pound spent on youth employment saves £25 in future benefits: helping people acquire the right skills to get into good work prevents a much larger bill arriving later.
Where we do it
We work with NHS trusts and local authorities across England, and with mayoral and combined authorities on the priorities set out in their local skills improvement plans. Our deepest work is place-based: First Rung, our programme for young people not in education, employment or training, is designed to run in any place with a trusted community anchor and employers willing to fund it.
How we do it
We sit between the public body, the funding and the training provider, and we make the three work together. We handle provider selection, funding compliance and outcome reporting, so the public body sees residents trained and posts filled rather than administration.
